Pediapal: Starting Strong!

Hello everyone!

I genuinely hope this email finds you and your family happy and healthy!

It's been a little over one month since Pediapal dropped on the App Store, and a lot has happened since then! I've been overwhelmed by the support and kind words people expressed. Launching an app is a nerve-racking process, but I've been met with outstanding kindness every step of the way. To be completely honest, I am really happy with this app's user base because they're so encouraging, and it's refreshing to see just how much everyone is united on a front of doing the best for their children. If that's not a great place to be, I don't know what is.

What's the word on Pediapal?

"It's a delightful and easy to use app with no fuss. It really helps in keeping track of everything you need. Just try it out!"
- Amonete

"It’s great this app allows me to log measurements and vitals for multiple family members without tracking me or collecting unnecessary data. Easy sign up and simple, effective UI."
- Ryan A

"Using this has been such a lifesaver whether it’s preparing for an upcoming doctors visit or just keeping all my kids info in a safe and secure space! 10/10"
- Olivi S.

"This app is such a great idea and I love being able to keep track of my baby’s metrics! Love the functionality of being able to share medication inf with caregivers!"
- Paulette E.

What's next?

Right now, folks are loving the vital logging feature, so I'm happy to report that three new vitals are on their way:

  • Blood Oxygen
  • Blood Pressure
  • Respiratory Rate

These have been widely requested to help parents keep track their children's respiratory health, so I'm excited to get logging with those.

Another common request I've got is for growth percentiles, and those will be included as part of the main view for applicable vitals:

  • Weight
  • Height
  • Head Circumference

These updates and a couple of surprises will be available in Pediapal 1.1, which you can expect to release later this Spring.

How Can I Make My Voice Heard?

There's no shortage of requests and suggestions for Pediapal, and to that I say keep them coming! The enthusiasm for the app really gives a lot of life to the work, and knowing what you think truly improves its quality.

For quick, anonymous reports, you can find the options to send bug reports or feature requests in the Settings tab of the app, and those get placed immediately onto the drawing board for immediate work.

Alternatively, if you'd love to share your thoughts, ask for something specific, share a fun fact, or anything else, feel free to send an email to info@pediapal.app.

Feature Spotlight: Care Plans

Care Plans came from date nights that started way later than we hoped because we wanted to do a great job leaving the babysitter meticulous instructions for how to look after our kids. My wife, Mary, is incredibly thorough with her instructions, and often times writing a great guide takes a great while. With that in mind, Care Plans became a no brainer: detail your children's routines on your device, and just press the share button before you head out of the house.

While incredibly informative, Care Plans are easy to compose: set a title, mark the item as time sensitive, and write any instructions you might want to detail. After a couple of these, you've got a full routine where you can drag around the items to achieve an order that satisfies.

While we use Care Plans for date nights, the use cases don't stop there. It's great for family trips and letting grandma and grandpa get some insight into how to take care of the grandkids. Additionally, it works really well at daycare, because the PDF export option allows you to create a handy dandy printable version that you can turn into your child's teacher.

Now imagine a future where you can simply reuse an existing Care Plan for night out instead of writing a whole new guide. You might get to that movie in time to see the previews after all!

Pediapal Appearances

This month, I'm so excited to be traveling to Chicago for Deep Dish Swift, a conference for iOS Developers centered around pizza, of all things. I'll be speaking on Impostor Syndrome in a talk called "I'm the Problem, It's Me". If you're there, come say hello! I'll be handing out Pediapal stickers, and I personally think they're a lot of fun.

I hope Pediapal will continue to serve you and your families well. In the meantime, it's back to work for me!

Warm regards,

Adrian Eves
